Hi, I’m Jake…
I'm a senior product designer with 15+ years experience turning ambiguous, high-complexity problems into clear, trustworthy enterprise experiences across cybersecurity, identity and access management, healthcare, finance, legal, and government industries. I also build and maintain scalable design systems in Figma with semantic design-token structures that raise quality and velocity for designers and engineers.
AI in 2026 has not replaced designers, but it has tightened feedback loops and made us more confident in our craft which makes it much more important to be sure we are building the right things. Engineers just want to help product managers converge on a feasible vision, but a good product designer will bridge the gap between them to ensure the success of the product.

I Help Teams Solve Problems
I'm a problem solver, and the best way to do that is partnered with a team of product managers, engineers, and stakeholders working together. Effective product design means bringing others along for the journey to leverage their unique skills and aligning on goals and feasibility.
As lead designer for cloud-native, multi-tenant SaaS security and Privileged Access Management (PAM/PASM) platforms these last 4 years, I oversaw the entire feature life-cycle. While I did deliver a lot of UI mockups, I also drew numerous entity relationship diagrams, security models and flow-diagrams as well as writing feature briefs to help product managers and engineers agree on scope and purpose.
Discovery
I work with Product partners to learn from users, identify opportunities, define success, prioritize objectives, gather requirements, analyze processes, expose assumptions, and test hypotheses to ensure we are on the right path.
Interaction Design
I diagram entity relationships, define user flows, determine hierarchy, identify patterns, contribute to design systems and write design briefs to empower designers and AI agents.
Rapid Prototyping
I use Figma make and agentic AI to ideate cohesive product simulations which I use to elicit user feedback, communicate requirements, and uncover assumptions or gaps in UX strategy.
User-Centered Agile
I design iteratively, write user stories, participate in team cermonies, support sprint goals and QBRs, advocate for the user, retrospect openly, speak candidly, and promote transparency.

More About Me
I'm also a husband, father and DIYer. Whether I'm installing solar panels on my RV, renovating my bathroom, repairing major appliances, or building a treehouse for my kids, I’m always building, exploring, or looking for better ways to get things done. Each day when I finish my work designing software, I get to work on other hands-on projects improving my home and community.
